Date: 2019

Description: As the Placemaking Manager for the Downtown Long Beach Alliance, Mariah coordinated the project design, curation and management of a temporary public space activation for International Park(ing) Day 2019. The installation reimagined two parking spaces in Downtown Long Beach as a public sanctuary for “pause”. The activation included seating, a shade structure, a floral display, sensory experiences and live painting. The painting by local artist Cynthia Luján incorporated reclaimed signage donated by Long Beach Public Works as a conversation towards pedestrian safety and public space. In collaboration with The Downtown Long Beach Alliance, The Art of Bloom, Long Beach Public Works, and artist Cynthia Luján.
